Our horizon scanning service – Horizon Watch – is the cornerstone of our approach to foresight. All organizations can benefit from our innovative, efficient, technology-driven approach to spotting and mapping key trends impacting their future.
We document and visually map these trends across STEEP categories (Social, Technical, Economic, Environmental, Political) and four time horizons (Tactics – 1-2 years, Strategy – 2-5 years, Goals – 5-10 years, and Vision – 10+ years), and also categorize their potential impact (High, Medium, and Low).
The LOOKOUT package includes the Horizon Watch horizon scanning service which provides a professionally researched custom trends and influences report along with a Miro board that visually presents the trend and influence data to help facilitate discussion and future tracking.

We utilize a process called back-casting where we start with the most desirable (and undesirable) future scenarios developed in Future Lens and walk back through time to the present day, identifying any milestones (waypoints) that mark critical opportunities to help ensure (or avoid) those futures. These may be major elections, appointments, investments, decisions, technological leaps or development goals, and more, depending on the most impactful trends identified in Horizon Watch.
